The Sacramento River is well known for several salmon runs as the fish migrate from the Pacific ocean to their spawning grounds near Redding, CA. Salmon fishing season is generally from July 16 to December 15 on both the Sacramento and Feather Rivers. The Sacramento River offers up some amazing trophy size king salmon during the fall salmon run… some ranging up to 50 to 60 pounds or even more. The Sacramento also offers up great fishing for steelhead, striped bass, shad, sturgeon and we have some excellent Sacramento river rainbow trout fishing in the section below Shasta dam.
Many of our customers enjoy our famous jet boat tours of the Sacramento River in that area from Red Bluff to Redding, enjoying the amazing beauty of Iron Canyon and Inks Creek Canyon. But these areas also can have great trout fishing too.
The Feather River is also well known as a great river for catching king salmon. It is a tributary to the Sacramento River and runs up to Lake Oroville. A favorite fishing spot on the Feather River is the area around the Thermalito afterbay, but we always keep up with the latest reports to know exactly where the best fish are located.
